The PTW Professional Track

The PTW Professional Track is for students who are currently working professionally or who aspire to work professionally. This special series of classes offers an in-depth immersion into the process and technique needed to audition successfully.

You’ll learn what you need to know to knock your professional auditions out of the park!

The focus of the Professional Track is for you to learn crucial audition skills and techniques needed, while offering opportunities to practice those skills and techniques in multiple settings. Master classes will connect you with industry professionals for their invaluable feedback and support.

    Merri Sugarman, Casting Director of Broadway shows School of Rock, A Bronx Tale,Jersey Boys, Phantom of the Opera Tour and Miss Saigon Tour guided and mentored PTW students at PTW Pro Track masterclasses in 2017 and 2018. Here she is with PTW Pro Track students and some of the PTW Pro Track faculty after one of those inspired learning sessions.

    Jamie Pillet from Abrams Artists Agency - “I was so impressed by the caliber of training and talent at Performers Theatre Workshop. Because the students had been so well prepared by the program, I was able to really dig deep into the performance nuances and work with them on a true real world professional level.”

    Jamie Pillet (Talent Agent, Abrams Artist Agency) with Dean Kravitz (PTW Executive Artistic Director) after one of the masterclasses Jamie led for the 2017 and 2018 PTW Professional Tracks. At these masterclasses, Jamie gave insightful feedback to students on how to improve their performance of their audition songs, and also coached them on how to maximize their presentation for On-Camera auditions, offering valuable “cold reading” techniques


    Julie Barnes -     “I love working with the students of the PTW Professional Track.They are enthusiastic and well prepared.Guiding them to the next step is a sheer pleasure... it's so rewarding to see how they take off afterwards. Shortly after the dance masterclass, John Allyn aced the dance audition for the Broadway production of School of Rock, and got the part of Billy in School of Rock! I’m so proud of him and all of the PTW students!”

    Julie Barnes (Performed in Broadway Shows: Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Cats, Little Mermaid)-Julie led the dance call audition masterclasses in Pro Track 2017 and 2018. PTW Professional Track students learned “tricks of the trade” about howto put your best foot forward at a professional dance audition, with the mock dance call masterclasses.

    Kevin Metzger-Timson from Wojcik-Seay Casting - “The students of PTW don’t feel like ‘kids’...working with them is like working with seasoned professionals in the industry. They come in prepared and polished, and with an incredible excitement to continue to learn and grow in their craft. I could cast any one of them in a professional production right now and feel confident they would exceed expectations!”

    Kevin Metzger-Timson (Wojcik/Seay Casting) has casted countless NYC productions, national tours and TV commercials. Kevin led a masterclass for the 2018 Pro Track, focusing on creating authenticity in performances of audition songs. Kevin gave one-on-one feedback with each masterclass student, and dug in with details so every student could get to the next level of performance

    The PTW Professional Track

    In the Professional Track, you will:

     

    • Acquire an understanding of how to audition for Theatre, Musical Theatre, TV and Film
    • Learn how to make smart bold choices that make you stand out
    • Learn how to hold yourself in the audition room
    • Learn what you bring into the room and how you are seen
    • Learn how to present your strengths
    • Learn how to pick up and process choreography quickly
    • Learn how to choose material for an audition
    • Expand your repertory book with usable, age appropriate songs that contain correct cuts on the sheet music
    • Gain confidence by getting lots of experience practicing auditioning for professionals, getting helpful feedback from them, and help incorporating that feedback
    • Build a relationship with the Casting Directors, Agents, and Managers who shape the Broadway, TV, and Film scene
    • Get invaluable feedback from real Casting Directors, Agents, and Managers that you wouldn’t get in the professional world
    *PTW makes no assertions that performing in the NYC Showcases and Professional Track will guarantee roles or representation. It is a great way to get feedback from some of the biggest industry professionals in the business, get experience performing for them and be seen by them
