The PTW Professional Track

The PTW Professional Track is for students who are working professionally or aspire to work professionally. This suite of classes offers an immersive approach to guiding students through the professional audition process and developing their technique for delivering successful auditions.

You’ll gain the skills, experience, and confidence you need to knock your professional auditions out of the park!

Professional Track focuses on teaching students proven audition technique while offering them opportunities to practice their delivery in a variety of settings.

This cutting-edge program also offers students select masterclasses that connect them with industry professionals who provide invaluable feedback and career support.

    The PTW Professional Track results say it all...

     

    Merri Sugarman from Tara Rubin Casting - “My experience with PTW was incredibly positive. I found the students well prepared, incredibly diverse and fully engaged. There's a lot of talent being cultivated under the safe, warm roof at PTW and I can't wait to go back!"

    Merri Sugarman (Broadway Casting Director for School of Rock, A Bronx Tale, Jersey Boys, The Phantom of the Opera Tour and Miss Saigon Tour) guided and mentored PTW students at PTW Pro Track masterclasses in 2017 and 2018. Here she is with PTW Pro Track students and some of the PTW Pro Track faculty after one of those inspired learning sessions.

    Jamie Pillet from Abrams Artists Agency - “I was so impressed by the caliber of training and talent at Performers Theatre Workshop. Because the students had been so well prepared by the program, I was able to really dig deep into the performance nuances and work with them on a true real world professional level.”

    Jamie Pillet (Talent Agent, Abrams Artist Agency) with Dean Kravitz (PTW Executive Artistic Director) after one of the masterclasses Jamie led for the 2017 and 2018 PTW Professional Tracks. At these masterclasses, Jamie gave insightful feedback to students on how to improve their audition song performance, and coached them on how to maximize their presentation for on-camera auditions, offering valuable cold reading techniques.


    Julie Barnes -     “I love working with the students of the PTW Professional Track. They are enthusiastic and well prepared. Guiding them to the next step is a sheer pleasure...it's so rewarding to see how they take off afterwards. Shortly after the dance masterclass, John Allyn aced the dance audition for the Broadway production of School of Rock, and got the part of Billy in School of Rock! I’m so proud of him and all of the PTW students!”

    Julie Barnes (Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Cats, The Little Mermaid) led the dance call audition masterclasses in Pro Track 2017 and 2018. PTW Participating students learned industry tricks of the trade, including how to put your best foot forward at a professional dance audition with the help of a customized mock dance call.

    Kevin Metzger-Timson from Wojcik-Seay Casting - “The students of PTW don’t feel like ‘kids’...working with them is like working with seasoned professionals in the industry. They come in prepared and polished, and with an incredible excitement to continue to learn and grow in their craft. I could cast any one of them in a professional production right now and feel confident they would exceed expectations!”

    Kevin Metzger-Timson (Wojcik/Seay Casting) has cast countless New York productions, national tours and TV commercials. His masterclass for the 2018 Pro Track focused on creating authenticity in audition song performances; he delivered one-on-one feedback with each masterclass student, digging in to the details so they could reach the next level of their performance.

    The PTW Professional Track

    In the Professional Track, you will:

     

    • Acquire an understanding of how to audition for Theatre, Musical Theatre, TV and Film
    • Learn how to make smart bold choices that make you stand out
    • Learn how to hold yourself in the audition room
    • Learn what you bring into the room and how you are seen
    • Learn how to present your strengths
    • Learn how to pick up and process choreography quickly
    • Learn how to choose material for an audition
    • Expand your repertory book with usable, age appropriate songs that contain correct cuts on the sheet music
    • Gain confidence by getting lots of experience practicing auditioning for professionals, helpful feedback from them, and help incorporating that feedback
    • Build a relationship with the Casting Directors, Agents, and Managers who shape the Broadway, TV, and Film scene
    • Get invaluable feedback from real Casting Directors, Agents, and Managers that you wouldn’t get in the professional world
    *PTW makes no assertions that performing in the NYC Showcases and Professional Track will guarantee roles or representation. It is a great way to get feedback from some of the biggest industry professionals in the business, get experience performing for them and be seen by them.
